To Know You
This is a song I've written (wrote?) recently, inspired by a talk on how studying and reflecting on truth about God can move us.
Then it hit me and I started feeling a bit emotional that even before I knew zip about God, he knew me so well, and how he died for me before I was even ‘a twinkle’ in anyone’s eye. I was a twinkle in God’s eye. And that makes me want to know him even more!

). Yeah i’ve been meaning to put something up for a while, nothing’s quite come together til now.
Equipment-wise i used an SE2200 condenser mic for vox and an SM 58 (shock of it!) for guitar. maybe they sound alright cos both are picking it up. Used Protools Digi 002 rack, and software. Processed using reverb, compressor, EQ plug-ins, and a mastering plug in called T-racks (which was a revelation to me for bumping up overall sound levels!). Editing wise it’s a composite of about 3 takes cos I can’t play the song once through without making a catastrophic mistake! (not sure ur supposed to reveal stuff like that!).
Song writing process… man I think it’s cheesy but true, my best songs come when doodling around on guitar, this time was really mulling and praying some stuff through on the theme, while playing some chords and the first line that came was ‘to know you is to love you’. It’d be interesting to discuss whether song writing worship songs or ‘regular’ songs involve different processes. Are all songs spiritual?

Great acoustic recording too. what equipment did you use? Did you process after recording or is this raw and unedited? Would love to know your writing process too…!
